Stove repair in Little Elm, TX
One dead burner throws off every meal you plan. Our local technicians repair gas, electric and induction stoves and cooktops in Little Elm and nearby towns, from burners that won't light to controls that stopped responding.
Common problems
Four stove and cooktop problems we see in Little Elm kitchens, with the usual causes behind each one. Try the quick check first. If it doesn't help, give us a call.
A tired igniter sparks weakly, so gas builds up for a moment before it catches and lights with a small pop.
If the cap isn't seated flat on the base, the flame can't spread evenly to the spark and lights late.
Dried food in the burner ports blocks the gas near the igniter, so the flame takes longer to reach it.
Let the burner cool, lift off the cap and make sure it drops flat into place. Clean the ports with a dry brush. If you smell gas with the burners off, leave the house and call 911 from outside.
The plastic insert that grips the valve stem wears round over time, so the knob spins without turning the burner.
Cooking grease seeps behind the knobs and hardens, making them stiff or hard to push in.
A valve that feels gritty or sticks between settings is worn inside and needs replacing.
Pull the knob straight off and look inside. If the flat side of the hole is worn smooth, a new knob may fix it. If the stem itself is stiff, call us.
Some pans, especially lighter ones or ones with layered bottoms, hum on high power. That sound alone isn't a fault.
The fan under the glass keeps the electronics cool. A worn bearing or a blocked vent makes it rattle or run loud.
A loose coil or board connection can click or buzz on every power change, and the zone may cut out.
Try a different heavy pan on the same zone. If the noise follows the pan, it's the cookware. If it stays with the cooktop, check that nothing blocks the vent under the counter.
The filter under the vent grille fills with grease and stops air from getting through.
A weak or noisy blower can't create enough pull to draw smoke down off the pans.
Grease buildup or a crushed section in the duct under the floor or cabinet chokes the airflow.
Pull out the filter and hold it up to the light. If you can't see through it, wash it in hot soapy water or the dishwasher and test the vent again.
Don't use the appliance, light switches or your phone inside. Leave the house, then call 911 from a safe distance and report the leak to Atmos Energy at 1-866-322-8667. Gas line work is done by a licensed plumber; we repair the appliance itself.
