Oven repair in Little Elm, TX
An oven that won't hold its temperature ruins dinner and the holiday baking plan. Our local technicians repair gas and electric ovens, wall ovens and range ovens in Little Elm and nearby towns.
Common problems
Four oven problems we get calls about in Little Elm kitchens, with the usual causes behind each one. Try the quick check first. If it doesn't help, give us a call.
Steam and grease from cooking slip through small gaps in the door and settle on the inner glass, where you can't wipe them off.
If the door was taken apart for cleaning and a pane or clip went back crooked, vapor gets in every time you cook.
A flattened gasket lets hot, moist air escape around the door and into its frame.
Look at the gasket around the oven opening. If it's flat, torn or hard, that's where the vapor gets out. Taking the door glass apart is best left to a technician.
Many ovens keep the cooling fan on until the inside drops below a set temperature. That can take a while after a long bake.
A fan that grinds, rattles or screeches while it runs has a worn bearing and will eventually stop.
If the fan never shuts off, even with the oven cold, a sensor or relay may be telling it the oven is still hot.
Wait about 30 minutes after cooking. If the fan stops on its own and runs quietly, it's normal. If it's loud or never stops, call us.
A lock icon on the display means the keys are disabled on purpose. It's easy to turn on by accident while wiping the panel.
The most used keys, like Bake and Start, wear out first and stop registering a press.
Steam from a pot below or heat from long self-cleaning or broiling can damage the touch panel and its ribbon connection.
Look for a lock icon and hold the Lock or Control Lock key for a few seconds. If only some keys fail, the keypad is likely worn.
Light ticking in the first minutes is the cavity and panels expanding. That sound on its own is normal.
A crackle or buzz with a bright spot on the element means it's breaking down and can fail with a flash.
On gas ovens a regular click every few minutes can be the burner cycling to hold the temperature.
Watch the bake element through the window as the oven heats. A bright white spot or sparks means turn it off and call us. Steady glow without sparks is normal.
Don't use the appliance, light switches or your phone inside. Leave the house, then call 911 from a safe distance and report the leak to Atmos Energy at 1-866-322-8667. Gas line work is done by a licensed plumber; we repair the appliance itself.
